Job Title Maintenance Technician Forklift

Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager the Technician is responsible for performing periodic maintenance, repair, replacement and troubleshooting on various models of Hyster and competitive material handling equipment. Must be proficient in completing all required paperwork needed to perform all job requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Repair and maintain Lineages forklift and material handling forklift and pallet jack fleet utilizing necessary tools, following Lineages Maintenance Policy and Procedures.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems both in the shop, and/or outside as needed 
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks and adjustments on all types of equipment (i.e. tractors, pallet jacks and forklifts) according to company and manufactures schedules and guidelines. 
  • Inspect, maintain and perform work in, on or under parts of forklifts and other equipment 
  • Apply knowledge and work in accordance with Lineage, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other rules and regulations as required. 
  • Prompt, daily attendance. 
  • Keep shop safe and clean at all times. 
  • Inspect equipment for safety, and prepare safety documentation.
  • Prior experience with electric powered Forklifts and Material Handling Equipment. 
  •  Troubleshoot and diagnose most truck components.
  • Able to read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics.
  • Able to repair, or replace major system components, including circuit boards and other electrical parts, hydraulic, mechanical, L.P. systems, power steering and transmissions, engines with limited supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose most truck components.
  • Perform proper PM’s in a timely manner.

 

Job Skills

  • Basic computer skills. 
  • Supply own mechanic technician hand tools.  
  • Safely walk & stand for extended periods of time on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery (including working outdoors in inclement weather) 
  • Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally) 
  • Safely reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat & kneel as necessary to perform the mechanic job duties. 
  • Basic welding skills desired (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG, and ARC)
  • Be able to troubleshoot and diagnose most complex electrical systems on electric trucks.
  • Be able to use all special tools properly. Maintain and properly use the normal tools of the trade.
  • Follows all safety procedures in performing work as well as company policies.
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills.
  • Properly identify and order all necessary replacement parts.
